Sailing Takes Sloop Shrew Trophy

Boston - The Boston College sailing team picked up a couple of victories over the weekend and records strong showings at three other events.? On Saturday, the Eagles competed at the Emily Wick Trophy hosted by MIT.? The team recorded an overall second place finish in a field of eighteen teams.? In the A division the pairing of junior Carrie Howe and senior Sarah Helming won four of eight legs to claim the top honors.? Senior Cryssa Byers and junior Kate Wisotzkey raced their way to a third place finish in the B division.? Brown University picked up the victory by a slim margin of two points over the Eagles to claim the Wick Trophy.? Also on Saturday, the team was busy as a whole competing in two more events.? The Eagles earned a third place finish at the J-22 invite hosted by the Coast Guard and a fifth place finish in the third Metro Series race held at Harvard.
On Sunday, the sailing team participated in the Sloop Shrew Trophy at Harvard.? The pairings from the Wick trophy again proved their mettle, this time earning the overall victory in the race.? Howe/Helming earned another first place in the top flight while Byers/Wisotzkey finished fourth in a highly competitive B division.
The Eagles also competed in the two-day Jan T. Friis trophy team race at Tufts.? The Eagles finished fifth out of ten teams on Saturday and won the consolation bracket on Sunday.? Senior Tyler Pruett paired with freshman Joy MacDougal, junior Mark Teborek with freshman Julie Wilson, and junior Brad Yetman teamed with sophomore Adie Hinman to complete the Eagles' lineup at the Friis trophy.
