BIG EAST play has begun and everything we have worked for is now about to be tested. Our first conference games were against Virginia Tech, but they were unfortunately cancelled due to rain. I think everyone was disappointed because we were all fired up and ready to show VTech that they had taken a long flight to play pretty competitive games. But instead, we had to wait an extra week to face our next Big East opponent...Providence.
We went into the doubleheader knowing that we were a better team, however, we ended up splitting the contests with them. The first game was a pitching duel that didn't go our way. Kim pitched great, but offensively we couldn't do anything to help her out. All we wanted to do was wipe the smirk off of the Providence pitcher's face, but we still failed. She pitched a good game and I really wanted to congratulate her after with a big smile and hug afterwards, but we were told to meet out by the vans. Maybe next time.
The second game we fought back hard and with two outs in the top of the fifth we were able to push two runs across. That was enough for Tekae to take care of the rest and now we head into this weekend 1-1 in the BIG EAST. This weekend is huge for us and we are working hard preparing for Villanova and Rutgers. It should be good and have no worries, I will keep you all posted!
