Women's Track Athletes Compete At Crusades Heptathlon

WORCESTER, Mass. - Three members of the Boston College women's track and field team competed at the Crusades Heptathlon on the campus of Holy Cross last Wednesday and Thursday, April 17-18. Freshman Liz Hassan (Whitman, Mass.) had an incredible two days for the Eagles, as she led the competition from start to finish.
Fellow Boston College teammates sophomore Julie Heyde (Natick, Mass.) and freshman Jacqueline Tanzella (West Hartford, Conn.) also competed in the event, and both had solid showing for the Eagles. Heyde finished runner-up to Hassan, while Tanzella turned in a fifth-place finish.
Hassan, who finished with a final score of 4,285, won three of the seven events. Hassan, who entered the competition with a tender hamstring and back spasms, won the javelin throw with a mark of 113'05.00", the 100-meter high hurdles with a time of 14.74 and the 200-yard dash with a time of 27.07.
Heyde and Tanzella finished with scores 4,183 and 3,687, respectively. Heyde picked up one win, as she took first place in the long jump with a mark of 16'01.00".
The women's track and field team is back in action on Sunday, April 28, when it competes at the Brown Invitational in Providence, R.I.
