Women's Track Fares Well at Solomon Invitational

The Boston College women's track team participated in the Solomon Invitational at the Solomon Track in Dedham, Mass. on Saturday and several athletes turned in good performances.
Senior Sharon Van Tuyl and junior Megan Kearney both captured first-place finishes. Van Tuyl won the 5000 meter run in a time of 16:56.03, while Kearney won the discus event with a throw of 137' '05.
Kearney also earned a fifth-place finish in the hammer throw (137' 01.00).
Sophomore Jennifer Kramer turned in a second-place finish in the 1500 meter run, finishing in 4:38.76.
The Eagles fared extremely well in the women's pole vault. Freshmen Megan Mara and Saki Sugano finished third and fourth respectively, while classmate Amy Cebulski placed seventh. Mara vaulted 10' 11.75.
Among the Eagles' other impressive performers in the women's competition were sophomore Julie Heyde (fourth in 100 meter high hurdles, 16.11), senior Zoey O'Sullivan (fifth in 100 meter run, 12.76), freshman Anne Marie Walsh (fifth in triple jump and seventh in long jump), sophomore Allison Castaldi (sixth in triple jump, 34' 05.00), and junior Tierney Oslin (sixth in discus throw and ninth in hammer throw).
