Stepherson Named to Kodak All-District Squad

ATLANTA, GA - Boston College point guard Brianne Stepherson (Middleton, MA) was named a finalist for the 2002 Division I Women's Basketball Kodak All-America Team. As announced Friday by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and the Eastman Kodak Company, Stepherson was named one of six players to the All-District 1 squad.
Stepherson is BC's third-leading scorer with 9.9 points per game. She averages 3.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. In conference play, she averages 10.3 ppg, 2.8 rpg, and 4.8 rpg. She has led her team to a 23-7 overall record and a No. 20 national ranking. BC finished with a 12-4 conference record, finishing the BIG EAST Tournament as runner-up. For her efforts, she was named to the All-BIG EAST second team.
Joining Stepherson on the District 1 team are Susan Moran (St. Joseph's) and fellow BIG EAST members Sue Bird (Connecticut), Swin Cash (Connecticut), Diana Taurasi (Connecticut), and Jacqueline Batteast (Notre Dame). WBCA member coaches in each of the eight WBCA geographical districts vote for the final team and Player of the Year, which will be announced in San Antonio on March 28, 2002.
Founded in 1981, the WBCA promotes women's basketball by unifying coaches at all levels to develop a reputable identity for the sport and to foster and promote the development of the game in all of its aspects as an amateur sport for women and girls.
Kodak recognizes the accomplishments of young athletes and the positive recognition they bring to their school by displaying their talents on the basketball floor. Kodak has sponsored the Kodak Women's All-America Basketball Team for 29 years.
