CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.- Freshman goaltender Lisa Davis (Falmouth, Mass.) was chosen as the U.S. College Hockey On-line Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday, according to an announcement by the Web site. In the Eagles' win over Providence College last week, Davis made 45 saves and recorded her fourth individual shutout of the season.
On Sunday, Mar. 3, Davis set a new career-high for saves, many from point blank range, to lead the Eagles to a 1-0 upset win over the Friars. The win kept PC from claiming third place in the ECAC East. For the season, Davis has registered a goals against average of 2.54 with a save percentage of .919. She has been the main reason for the Eagles' defensive turnaround this season. Last season the Eagles gave up 174 goals in 32 games (an average of 5.43 per game) compared with only 88 goals against in 31 games this season (an average of 2.81 per game).
Each week, USCHO.com recognizes the top offensive and defensive performances among Division I men's and women's players. Davis was honored this week with Brown's Jessica Link, who was chosen as the Offensive Player of the Week.
Boston College is currently 9-18-4 overall. The team will next take on Northeastern University on Friday, Mar. 8 at 7 p.m. at Matthews Arena.
