Three Honored By HOCKEY EAST

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Three Boston College hockey players were honored by HOCKEY EAST at the league's awards banquet, held at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in conjunction with the league's annual championship tournament. Three underclassmen - sophomores Tony Voce (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Ben Eaves (Faribault, Minn.) and freshman Dave Spina (Mesa, Ariz.) - were honored by the league for their play during the 24-game 2001-02 HOCKEY EAST schedule.
Voce was an All-HOCKEY EAST First Team honoree. He finished the league season with 29 points for a seventh-place finish in overall scoring. He netted 15 goals and 14 assists. Voce's goal scoring total was the fourth-highest in the league, while he finished 10th in assists.
Overall on the season, Voce scored a career-high 48 points on 26 goals and 22 assists in 38 games. He is currently tied for ninth nationally in overall scoring and tied for sixth in goal scoring. He also added five shorthanded goals, which is the second-highest total in Division I.
Eaves was an All-HOCKEY EAST Second Team selection. He missed 10 games of the league season with a rib injury but still finished tied for 11th in scoring and fifth in assists. In 14 games, Eaves scored seven goals and added 18 assists for 25 league points.
Eaves recorded 39 points in 23 games overall this season, scoring 13 goals and collecting 26 assists. He also represented the United States at the 2002 IIHF World Junior Championships, leading the team to a fifth-place finish over the holiday break.
Spina was honored with a place on the HOCKEY EAST All-Rookie Team. He scored 21 points on 11 goals and 10 assists in conference games. Overall, he netted 26 points on 13 goals and 13 assists in 36 games. Spina finished second among the league's freshmen in scoring and third among all rookies.
Voce's first team selection marks the seventh year in a row the Eagles have placed a player on the all-conference first team. Spina's selection to the all-rookie team is the Eagles' 11th in the last seven years.
Boston College closed the season with an 18-18-2 overall mark and a 10-13-1 record in league games.
