McManus, Davis Earn ECAC Weekly Honors

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.- Boston College senior assistant captain Kelly McManus was named the ECAC Eastern Player of the Week and freshman goaltender Lisa Davis earned ECAC Rookie of the Week honors for the week ending February 3, 2002. The duo led the Eagles to three wins this week. McManus scored four goals and added five assists, while Davis stopped 50 of 52 shots faced.
McManus continued her stellar play for BC this week. On Tuesday, January 29, against Bowdoin College, she scored the Eagles' opening tally and assisted on the game-winner in a 4-1 win over the Polar Bears. On February 1, she assisted on Alaina Clark's game-winner and added an insurance goal as the Eagles defeated Quinnipiac, 5-1. She capped off the week with a spectacular five-point effort, having a hand in all five Eagle goals (2 goals, 3 assists) in a 5-0 win over the Braves. For the season, McManus leads the team with 28 points on 13 goals and 15 assists.
Davis started all three games for BC this week. She stopped 27 of 28 shots faced against Bowdoin, then continued her consistent play stopping 23 of 24 shots faced in a weekend sweep of Quinnipiac. For the week, she average a .961 save percentage with a 0.75 goals against average.
Davis has registered a 2.54 GAA with a .914 save percentage, starting 23 of 24 matches for the Eagles on the year. In addition, she has had 30+ save-performances in eight games and has earned three individual shutouts and combined with senior Sharon VanTuyl to register another.
The Eagles next take the ice against the Terriers of Boston University in the opening round of the Beanpot Tournament, on Tuesday, February 5, 2002 at Matthews Arena. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
