
Hockey Hands Northeastern A 7-2 Defeat

BOSTON - Boston College's senior captains - Jeff Giuliano and Ales Dolinar - each scored two goals as the Eagles defeated Northeastern, 7-2, at Matthews Arena before 2,832 fans on Friday. Giuliano totaled three points on the evening by adding an assist, while a total of 11 Eagles recorded points. Six players collected two or more points. BC posted a 7-0 lead before Northeastern scored two late third-period goals.
Dolinar netted the game's first two goals - a shorthanded strike 8:45 into the game and a one-timer at 12:40. Dolinar intercepted a clearing attempt by Northeastern goaltender Keni Gibson and scored the shorthanded goal into an empty net. Giuliano and Ryan Shannon assisted on his second goal, the result of cycling behind the net.
Giuliano struck next at 13:43 of the second when he broke in on a two-on-one with Shannon for the score. J.D. Forrest also assisted on the goal, blocking a shot right to Shannon to spur the breakout.
Tony Voce netted his 23rd goal of the season at 15:50 of the second when he deflected in a John Adams shot from the point. Ben Eaves also assisted on the goal. Ty Hennes scored at 18:22 of the third to close the scoring in the stanza. He finished a tic-tac-toe passing play in the slot with Ryan Murphy and Anthony D'Arpino to give the Eagles a 5-0 lead after two periods.
Giuliano struck again with his second goal of the night 1:4 into the third, converting a Murphy pass from the boards while on the power-play. Adams also assisted on the goal. Dave Spina rounded out the scoring, taking a give-and-go with Eaves for his 12th goal of the season.
Northeastern added two late goals - a power-play goal by Willie Levesque at 7:16 and an even strength goal 1:32 later by Joe Mastronardi.
Northeastern outshot the Eagles, 27-19, but Tim Kelleher made 25 saves in net for BC. Gibson made seven saves in 35:50 before yielding to Jason Braun, who stopped five shots.
With the win, BC improved to 17-14-2 overall (9-11-1 HOCKEY EAST) and has won four of its last five games. Northeastern dipped to 17-13-3 overall (10-9-2 HOCKEY EAST).
The two teams will meet again on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 3 p.m. at Kelley Rink. Fox Sports New England will air the game live.
