Women's Lacrosse Chosen Seventh In BIG EAST Poll

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's lacrosse team was chosen to finish seventh in the seven-team BIG EAST Conference, according to the Preseason Coaches' Poll released by the league today. National runner-up Georgetown was chosen first with six first-place votes, followed by Syracuse second with the remaining first-place vote.
In addition, 2001 Regional All-American Lauren Miller (Timonium, Md.), a senior attack, was named to the 2002 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. Last season, Miller led the Eagles with 20 points - 11 goals and nine assists - in BIG EAST games. Overall, she registered 79 points - 49 goals and 30 assists - in 15 games.
In the inaugural season of the BIG EAST conference in 2001, the women's team was selected seventh in the preseason poll, but finished in sixth place overall. The team finished the season with a 6-9 record overall, winning five of its last seven matches.
This year, the Eagles return 10 starters and will add eleven newcomers to the team. Their season begins on Mar. 7 against La Salle University at 4 p.m. in Villanova, Penn.
