Boston College Head Coach Al Skinner
"Providence played a real fine ballgame, but our intensity and recognition on the defensive end was clear. When Nate (Doornekamp) was in the game, we were able to rebound the ball real well, so when he got out of the game is when we started to struggle, but overall that is the most important part. That urgency shows up on the defensive end and rebounding and it was nice to see us outrebound somebody."
"We've got a tough stretch coming up. Physically, guys have got to get themselves ready to play because we can't afford to have any let-ups. If a team is going to win a game against us, they are going to have to beat us. We don't want to be giving it away and that means going out and giving it 40 minutes."
"We got a tremendous effort from our starters, obviously, and defensively I was really pleased by the effort we got."
"He (Troy Bell) shot it as well in the past, it's that we just haven't seen it in such a long time that it was nice to see. He was able to get lost behind their (Providence) defense and guys found him."
Boston College Guard Troy Bell
"We're just taking it one game at a time. We're a team on a mission right now. Everybody is even, so we feel like even if we can't win it (BIG EAST regular season title), we feel we can still get a bye. That is the biggest thing."
"This is the first game I can remember where I had open looks. There are some games where I might have to force a three or two just to get a shot off, but thanks to Ryan (Sidney) and Kenny Walls we had great ball movement. I would throw it to Ryan, we would get it in and out, and somehow I was open and they found me."
Providence Head Coach Tim Welsh
"I thought it was great, very hard fought game. Both teams played with a lot of zip on the offensive end. The difference was that they made some big threes that pulled them over the top and Bell was just tremendous. We did not do a good job of finding him in the zone, but he makes a lot of those plays on his own because finds the seems on the defensive end of the floor and kind of sneaks out there.
We tried to keep them off balance in the second half by switching between man-to-man [defense] and zone, but they really had a hop in their step. They had a little extra zip in their offensive end. They were getting the ball inside against man-to-man and they were knocking down the threes against the zone."
