The Boston College sailing team continued its winning ways Nov. 29- Dec. 1 at the Timme Angsten Memorial Regatta. Under treacherous conditions, the Eagles fought hard and ended the weekend on top, finishing first out of 15 teams.
The 56th running of the "unofficial fall championship of college sailing" was hosted by the Chicago Yacht Club in Belmont Harbor.
The racing started off great, as Friday brought ideal sailing conditions and a high of 50 degrees. The day ended with the Eagles 10 points behind the leading Wisconsin Badgers.
Saturday was an altogether different story as the temperature dropped into the 20's and winds gusted up to 30 mph. However, the day ended with BC on top as the Eagles rallied past the Badgers and ended up finishing 13 points ahead of second-place Wisconsin.
On Dec. 4, the new Sailing World College Rankings were released, with the Eagles owning the No. 5 spot. This was an upgrade from their previous rank of 13 and is largely due to their strong finish in Chicago.
