CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's ice hockey team skated to a 3-3 tie with Northeastern University Sunday afternoon in Kelley Rink. The tie gives both teams a 1-3-1 record. Boston College is 0-1-1 in conference play, and the Huskies are 0-0-1.
The Eagles opened up the scoring late in the first period. Sophomore Heidi Seidewand netted a pass from Renee Taylor at 17:19. Northeastern mounted a comeback in the second period, getting goals from Pamela Pachal and Rebecca Paul. Paul was not finished, however, and scored her second of the game at 3:20 in the third period to give the Huskies a commanding 3-1 lead.
Boston College defenseman Genevieve Richardson capitalized on a power play opportunity at 11:56 in the third, blasting a shot past NU goaltender, Chanda Gunn. Eagle junior Alaina Clark tied the game with her team-leading fourth goal of the season off a pass from Kerri Sanders.
Despite a penalty against Northeastern with 1:31 remaining on the clock, the teams finished regulation knotted at three. Neither team could find the back of the net during the overtime period either. Gunn stopped two shots during the extra time, while BC netminder Lisa Davis swallowed four.
Overall, Gunn turned away 17 Eagle opportunities. Lisa Davis played extremely well for Boston College, finishing the afternoon with 46 saves.
Boston College will face Niagara University on the road on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m.
