
Men's Hockey Falls to Dartmouth in Overtime, 5-4

HANOVER, N.H. - No. 1 Boston College lost in overtime, 5-4, to Dartmouth, Tuesday night at Dartmouth's Thompson Arena. The loss brings the Eagles record to 9-2-1, while Dartmouth improves to 6-3-0.
Boston College opened the scoring at 10:43 of the first period on Andrew Alberts' third goal of the season. Alberts collected a pass from freshman Ben Lovejoy, crossed center ice and ripped a slap shot that beat Big Green goalie Nick Boucher for the tally.
The Eagles would increase their lead to 2-0 on a Ryan Shannon power-play goal only 54 seconds into the second period. Shannon received a pass from J.D. Forrest on the middle of the Dartmouth blue line and unloaded a slap shot to tally his fifth goal of the season. Sophomore Ned Havern was also credited with an assist.
The Big Green cut the Eagles' lead to one at 5:36 of the second period on Max Guimond's second goal of the season.
Boston College jumped back to a two-goal lead on Havern's second goal of the season - on the power play - at 13:15 of the second period. Havern's goal was assisted junior Tony Voce, along with Shannon.
The Eagles surrendered two goals to Dartmouth in a span of 46 seconds to head into the locker room tied 3-3 after two periods.
The second period marked the first time this season BC allowed three goals in a period.
Freshman Patrick Eaves gave the Eagles a 4-3 lead only 19 seconds into the third period. The goal was BC's third power-play tally of the night. Forrest and Shannon were credited with the assists.
Guimond tied the game at 4-4 for Dartmouth at 13:03 of the third period before Mike Ouellette won the game for Darmouth at 2:39 of overtime.
Boston College outshot Dartmouth 40-16.
Matti Kaltiainen made 11 saves in net for BC while Boucher made 36 saves for Dartmouth.
The Eagles return to action Friday, Dec. 6, when they host Maine. Game time is 7 p.m.
