
Men's Hockey Falls to Maine, 4-3

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Senior Robert Liscak tallied the gamewinner at 10:02 of the third period to spoil a Boston College comeback and give Maine a 4-3 win, Friday night in front of 7,770 at Kelley Rink. The win improves Maine to 11-1-1 (5-0-0 HEA) while BC falls to 9-3-1 (6-2-0 HEA). The loss marks the first time this season the Eagles have faced back-to-back defeats.
Maine jumped out to a 1-0 lead only 2:56 into the first period on senior Gray Shaneberger's first goal of the season. The Black Bears increased their lead to 2-0 on senior Lucas Lawson's tally at 13:20 of the first period.
BC's 2-0 deficit after one period was the first time this season the team trailed by two goals after the first frame.
Freshman Greg Moore gave Maine a 3-0 lead on a power-play goal at 7:57 of the second period.
The Eagles crawled their way back into the game on senior A.J. Walker's first goal of the season at 17:16 of the second period. Junior Ty Hennes and freshman Stephen Gionta - who missed the last four games with a shoulder injury - registered the assists.
Sophomore Ryan Shannon and junior Ben Eaves scored back-to-back goals - only 1:52 apart - to knot the score at 3-3 before Maine took their final lead. Shannon's goal - on the power-play - was assisted by junior J.D. Forrest and Ben Eaves, while sophomore Andrew Alberts tallied the lone assist on Eaves' goal.
Freshman Jimmy Howard made 27 saves for Maine while senior Tim Kelleher made 18 stops for the Eagles.
The two schools face each other Saturday night at 7 p.m. at Kelley Rink.
