CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - In a dual meet Friday evening at the Flynn Complex Recreation Center on the Chestnut Hill campus of Boston College, the Eagle women's swimming and diving team was defeated by Princeton University, 185-133. The highlight of the meet was the 100-meter individual medley, as BC sophomore Katie McCann set a school record, finishing in 59.80.
McCann earned the award for outstanding performer for the meet, adding first-place finishes in the 200-IM and 400-IM events to her record-breaking first event. Her three top finishes led the Eagles in point scoring. Lauren Keibler turned in the most outstanding performance of the evening for her swim in the 200-butterfly. Maurya Couvares took first in the BC-sweep of the 200-butterfly, and Nina Zockoff earned the only other individual first place finish for the Eagles in the 50-freestyle.
Boston College performed well in the next pool, finishing as the top point scorers in both diving events. Katelyn Cox won the one-meter event and took second to teammate Jennifer Rhines in the three-meter competition.
Despite these top performances, Princeton earned 185 points to the Eagles' 133. Boston College fell to 4-2 on the season, but its BIG EAST record held at 2-1.
The Eagles host two meets this weekend at the Flynn Recreation Complex. Yale University will be in town on Friday for a 6 p.m. meet, and the University of Loyola (Md.) will visit the Plex at noon on Saturday.
