Freshman forward Craig Smith scored 22 points and senior guard Troy Bell netted 20 points to lead Boston College to a 96-63 exhibition victory over the HP-Minnesota Panthers in Conte Forum.
Junior forward Andrew Bryant added 19 points, while sophomore center Nate Doornekamp grabbed a team-high 14 rebounds.
Led by Bryant's eight-point run to begin the game, Boston College jumped out to an early 14-5 advantage. The visiting Panthers rallied to even the score at 16-16, before BC's freshman trio of Smith, Adoyah Evans-Miller and Louis Hinnant combined for seven consecutive points to give the Eagles a 23-16 cushion.
BC took its biggest lead of the opening half -- 19 points (47-28) -- on a Bell field goal 14 seconds before the intermission. The HP-Minnesota Panthers converted a lay-up at the buzzer to make the halftime score, 47-30.
The host Eagles never allowed the Panthers to trim the lead to fewer than 15 points in the second half. BC gained its first 20-point margin (54-34) on a Jermaine Watson basket with 18:03 remaining and took its first 30-point lead (86-55) on a Bell three-pointer with 4:37 to play.
Game Notes: Eight BC players played 18 or more minutes. Senior Uka Agbai logged a team-high 26 minutes, finishing with eight points and five rebounds ... Bell and Hinnant tied for the team lead with five assists each ... Watson followed Doornekamp on the rebounding list with eight. Smith recorded seven rebounds ... BC shot 48.5 percent from the field, including 55.6 percent from three-point range ... BC recorded 13 steals ... Attendance was 2,608.
