CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Coach Jerry York and the Boston College men's hockey team opened their 2002-03 campaign Monday with their first official practice of the season. York welcomed assistant coach Ron Rolston, who made the trip to the Heights after three years as an assistant with Harvard, and seven newcomers to this year's roster.
Boston College will play an exhibition contest Sunday, Oct. 6, when they host Queen's University. The game, scheduled for 2 p.m., will be played at Kelley Rink. The team will open the regular season when they travel to face HOCKEY EAST rival Massachusetts on Sunday, Oct. 13. Game time is slated for 5 p.m.
The Eagles also were named in each of the two major Div. I preseason polls. The team was picked ninth in the USCHO.com poll and 12th in the USA Today/American Hockey Magazine poll. Last year's national champion Minnesota is the consensus number one in the polls. Boston College is the only school in the top 10 of the USCHO.com poll that was not ranked at the conclusion of the 2001-02 season.
