Hockey Shuts Down Yale, 2-1

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Boston College won its third game in a row with a 2-1 victory over Yale at the New Haven Coliseum before 6,157 fans on Sunday night. With the win, the 10th-ranked Eagles improved to 11-6-2 overall, while Yale fell to 4-9-2 on the season.
Boston College found itself down 1-0 after the first period as Yale's Evan Wax scored off a Ryan Steeves rebound at 14:26. Nick Deschenes also assisted on the goal.
After being outshot 7-3 in the first period, the Eagles came out firing in the second and held a 15-6 shot advantage in the frame.
Tony Voce capitalized on the Eagles' first shot of the period as he netted his 17th goal of the season to knot the score at 1-1 just 37 seconds in. Ales Dolinar and J.D. Forrest assisted on the goal.
Ty Hennes gave BC a 2-1 advantage with his first goal of the season at 5:56 of the second period. He collected a rebound of his own shot and fired it in past Yale goaltender Dan Lombard for the unassisted goal.
Both teams went back and forth in the defensive third period as the shots were 6-3 in favor of BC.
Tim Kelleher earned his seventh win of the season with a 15-save performance, while Lombard made 22 saves in the loss.
Boston College plays again on Monday, Jan. 7 at Massachusetts. Game time is 7 p.m. at the Mullins Center on UMass' campus in Amherst.
