
Women's Swimming Team Cruises To Win Over Boston University

BOSTON - The Boston College women's swimming team picked up its eighth win of the season on Tuesday night as it defeated cross-town rival Boston University 177-121 at Faneuil Pool. With the win, the Eagles have defeated the Terriers seven-consecutive times.
Freshman Kathleen McCann continued her incredible first season at the Heights on Tuesday. McCann led the Eagles with victories in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard individual medley. She completed the events with times of 1:00.43, 2:10.44 and 2:09.81, respectively.
Sophomore Caitlin Healey also had a successful night for head coach Tom Groden's squad. Healey earned first-place results in the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyle, finishing with times of 5:09.44 and 10:33.23, respectively.
Senior Alexis Kostopoulos and junior Nina Suryoutomo both picked up a first-place victory. Kostopoulos won the 50-yard freestyle, turning in a time of 24.76, and Suryoutomo was victorious in the other sprint freestyle event the 100-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 53.65.
Boston College's 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle teams also finished in first place. The medley relay team of Kostopoulos, Suryoutomo, senior Lauren Schwartz and sophomore Michelle Lane finished with a time of 1:50.40. The freestyle relay team of Suryoutomo, Healey, senior Nicole Duffy and junior Caitlin Klick finished with a time of 3:36.56.
The women's team is back in action at 11 a.m. Saturday, when it takes on the University of Maine in Orono, Maine.
