Men's Soccer Trips Up No. 18 Harvard, 3-2

NEWTON, Mass. - Sophomore forward Neil Krause's second goal of the game lifted Boston College over the 18th-ranked, visiting Harvard Crimson, 3-2, in a non-league game played at the Newton Campus Soccer Field on Wednesday. With the win, the Eagles raised their season record to 4-2-0 overall. Harvard fell to 3-2-0 with the loss.
BC's Bobby Thompson opened the scoring in the sixth minute as he lifted a shot over Harvard keeper Jamie Roth for the goal. Bill Arnault and Martin Cantillo assisted on the play. Krause gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead heading into halftime after converting on a corner kick from Adam Pfeifer and Pat Haggerty in the 45th minute.
Harvard mounted a comeback in the second half, scoring two goals to even the score. Jeremy Truntzer pulled the Crimson within one goal after he collected a pass from Michael Cornish for a goal in the 54th minute. In the 72nd minute, Nike Lenicheck tied the game after he scored on a pass through the midfield from Michael Peller.
Krause's second goal - in the 82nd minute - slid into the net after Roth made the initial save on the shot down the middle. Pfeifer sent a pass to Arnault who fed a streaking Krause.
Boston College keeper Danny Caruso made five saves in the win, while Roth made three saves in the loss.
The Eagles will next face cross-town rival Boston University on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 1 p.m. at Nickerson Field in Boston, Mass.
