Brizzolara Named BIG EAST Co-Rookie of the Week

Chestnut Hill, MA- Boston College freshman setter Jessica Brizzolara (Arlington Heights, Ill.) earned BIG EAST Co-Rookie of the Week honors on Sept. 10 after leading the Eagles (5-2) to an impressive 3 wins in the New England Challenge. She shared the award with Syracuse's Laura Koster. Brizzolara registered a total of 165 assists in 4 games for the Eagles and was named to the All-Tournament Team of the New England Challenge.
The honor is the first weekly recognition of Brizzolara's career and is the first BIG EAST recognition for BC volleyball under Coach Jackie Hadel. Early in the week, Jessica notched a career-high 42 assists in a 3-1 loss to New Hampshire. Three days later, she smashed that number by registering 58 assists in a 3-1 win over Colgate. Showcasing her versatility, Brizzolara also contributed to the Eagles stifling defense (Tied for 1st in the BIG EAST in opponent hitting percentage) with 10 digs against both Loyola and Colgate.
Brizzolara and BC take the court next against the Huskies of Northeastern University on Tuesday, September 11, 2001 at Power Gym. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
