Boston College will renew its BIG EAST rivalries with Georgetown, Pittsburgh and Seton Hall during the 2001-02 basketball season, according to an announcement by the conference office.
The Eagles, which will again face their six BIG EAST East Division foes, will also face West Division member Syracuse during the upcoming campaign.
The league schedule calls for each team to face its own division opponents twice each -- one home, one away -- and to play four of the seven teams from the other division once. Each team will play the three teams from the other division that it did not play during the past season, while rounding out the cross-division play with a game against one opponent that it did face during the 2000-01 season. That "repeat" game -- Syracuse, in Boston College's case -- will be played at the opposite site of last year's contest.
Joining Boston College in the BIG EAST Conference's East Division are Connecticut, Miami, Providence, St. John's, Villanova and Virginia Tech.
In addition to 12 games against these teams, Boston College is slated to host Georgetown and Pittsburgh, while traveling to Seton Hall and Syracuse.
Boston College will not play Notre Dame, Rutgers or West Virginia during the 2001-02 season.
No dates have yet been released.
