Hockey Team To Be Honored Today at White House

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The 2001 NCAA national championship Boston College hockey team will be honored at a White House ceremony today.
The White House reception will be one of many activities the Eagles take part in today. The day began with a flight to Washington and the team will tour the United States Capitol at 10:30 a.m. A luncheon to honor the team will take place at 11:30 a.m. at the Longworth House Office Building and is being hosted by Congressman Michael E. Capuano, Congressman Barney Frank and other members of the Massachusetts Congressional Delegation.
Following the lunch, the team will tour Washington and then be honored at the White House. The team is expected to meet with President George W. Bush at 4:55 p.m.
The meeting will include remarks by Bush, a photograph session with the President and a tour of The White House.
After a team dinner in Washington, the Eagles will return to Boston tonight.

Boston College won the national championship with a 3-2 overtime victory over North Dakota on April 7, capping a 33-8-2 season.
