Men's Golf Completes Season At URI Invitational

WARWICK, R.I. - Boston College's men's golf team completed their 2001 Spring season this weekend at the University of Rhode Island Spring Invitational. Ten teams consisting of 54 golfers hit the links at the tournament, which was held from Saturday, April 28, through Sunday, April 29, 2001.
The Eagles took 8th place in team competition with a two-day tally of 661 (333-328). Individually, sophomore Bob Gregory was the Eagles' top finisher. Gregory shot an 83 on Satruday and a 79 on Sunday to finish tied for 26th place. Senior Josh Folkerth, in his last scheduled competition as an Eagle, shot a two-day 165 (82-83) to finish tied for 31st place. Sean McReynolds tied for 34th with a 168 (83-85) while Mike Rich, also competing in his last tournament as an Eagle, tied for 42nd with a 172 (85-87). Rounding off the Eagles' performance was Chris Sanossian. Sanossian shot a 92 on Saturday and an 81 on Sunday to finish in 45th place.
The University of Rhode Island finished in first place when all was said and done. The team shot a 297 on day one and a 304 on day two for a total stroke count of 601. The University of Connecticut placed second with a 626 and Harvard University took third place with a 629. Rhode Island's Mike Carbone took individual first place honors at the event. Carbone shot par-71 golf on Saturday followed by a 73 on Sunday to claim the top spot. In second place was Rhode Island's Michael Sims with a 148 (74-74). Finally, third place honors went to Fordham's Peter Jenkins, who shot a 149 (75-74).
