Women's Lacrosse Win Nail Biter Over Monmouth

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Lauren Miller scored the game winning goal with just 22 second remaining in the game to lift the Boston College women's lacrosse team to an 11-10 victory over Monmouth at Alumni Stadium today.
The Eagles jumped on top at 27:24, when Rachel Bausch scored the first of her three goals, unassisted. The Hawks rallied back when Meg Brown scored at 26:32, unassisted. The Eagles then broke free, scoring three consecutive goals. At 21:09 Emily Ryan scored the first of her two goals from Miller. Scoring the first of her three goals on the day, Miller scored at 18:58, unassisted. Without a goal for more than five minutes, Chrissie DeMichele scored the first of her three goals at 13:10.
At 10:10, the Hawks scored their second goal of the game when Lisa Cherill scored from Brown. To end the scoring for the first half, Rachel Tella scored at 6:51 from Ryan. At the half, the Eagles led 5-2.
In the second half, the Hawks started their come back early when Rebekah Murphy scored, unassisted, just three seconds into the half. The Eagles fought right back scoring a goal of their own at 29:24 from Bausch. Miller assisted on the score. The Hawks then went on to score two consecutive goals. At 28:48 Jessica Salvesen scored unassisted and at 25:49 Heather Bryan scored from Stacey Sydlo.
Scoring the second of her three goals, DeMichele sent the ball past Monmouth goal keeper Stacey Makris at 25:26. Netting her final goal of the game, Bausch scored at 14:08 from a Miller pass. At 13:38, DeMichele scored from Lauren Meyers. Scoring unassisted at 12:51, Sydlo scored the first of her three goals, unassisted for Monmouth. But the Eagles added another to make the score 10-7 when Ryan scored at 11:32, unassisted.
Monmouth, going on a four goal scoring streak, came back to tie the game at 10. Scoring for the Hawks were Bryan at 10:31, Sydlo from Murphy at 8:18, Sydlo from Bryan at 6:34 and Stephanie LaGrossa from Sydlo at 4:20. The Eagles' game winning goal came with only 22 second remaining in the game, when Miller scored, unassisted.
In goal for Boston College, Rachel Zeller stopped 15.
With the win the Eagles conclude their season at 6-9 overall and 1-5 in the BIG EAST, while Monmouth falls to 10-7 overall.
Preceding the game, Boston College honored two seniors, co-captain Ryan and Brooke Zwarg, marking their last collegiate game at Boston College. The game also marked the first time head coach Shari Krasnoo, in her first season at The Heights, faced her old team, Monmouth, where she coached for six seasons.
