Men's Golf Competes at New England Championships

BELLINGHAM, Mass. - Boston College's men's golf team competed in the New England Division I Championships from Tuesday, April 24 through Wednesday, April 25, 2001. The event saw 75 golfers compete on the par-72 course at Maplegate Country Club in Bellingham, Massachusetts.
Boston College placed 12th out of 15 teams with a two-day total of 677 (335-342). Junior Josh Folkerth (79-87) and sophomore Bob Gregory (85-81) led the Eagles, tying for 43rd place with a 166. Senior Mike Rich shot an 89 on Tuesday and an 84 on Wednesday to finish tied for 60th place overall. Finally, Stefan Rogalski finished with a 177 (87-90) while freshman Bryan McKeon shot a 179 (85-95). Rogalski tied for 66th while McKeon pulled in at 71st place.
The Championships were won by the University of Hartford. Hartford claimed first place with a two-day tally of 612 strokes (302-310). Claiming silver medal honors was Yale University with a 613 (303-310) while the bronze medal went to Dartmouth College (621, 314-307). Individually, Yale's Chris Eckerle claimed first place. Eckerle shot a par-72 on Tuesday and a round of 76 on Wednesday to finish with a stroke count of 148. Silver medal honors went to Dartmouth's Jero Esteve and third place was awarded to Central Connecticut's Bob Myles.
