Women's Golf Takes Fourth Place At Hartford Invitational

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - In their second tournament of the Spring season, Boston College's women's golf team hit the links at the Wellesley Inn Hartford Invitational. The tournament was held at the Wampanoag Country Club in West Hartford, Connecticut, from Sunday, April 22 through Monday, April 23, 2001. Overall, fifty-two golfers representing ten schools competed on the par-73 course.
Boston College completed the tournament at 4th place out of ten teams with a two-round total of 691 (339-352). Leading the Eagles were sophomore Roxanne Somboonsiri and freshman Channing Lovejoy, who both tied for 5th place with a 164. Also representing Boston College was Junior Suzanne Carrazza. Carrazza shot an 84 on Sunday and a 96 on Monday to tie for 18th place. Kerry Whalen (183, 91-92) and Jennifer Mitchell (197, 99-98) also represented the Eagles.
Taking first place honors at the Invitational was the University of Hartford (656, 336-320). In individual competition, Hartford's Kristy Finlayson took first place with a 151 (80-71). Teammate Katrina Lekovich claimed second place with a 155 (79-76). Tying for third place was Rutgers' Jill Sivley and Danaka Piltingsrud. Both shot a 163.
The Eagles will compete next at the Massachusetts State Championships. The event will be held from April 27 through April 28, 2001. Please refer to www.bceagles.com for updates concerning Boston College's women's golf team.
