Miller, Zeller Earn BIG EAST Women's Lacrosse Honors

CHESTNUTHILL, Mass. - Junior attack Lauren Miller (Timonium, Ma.) earned BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors and freshman goaltender Rachel Zeller (Lutherville, Md.) earned BIG EAST Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors for the week ending April 22, according to an announcement made by the league office.
Both players were honored for their efforts in the 19-4 win over 20th ranked Stanford, the 16-6 win over Denver and the 13-14 loss to New Hampshire. For the week, Miller averaged six goals and four assists per game, collecting a total of 18 goals and 11 assists for 29 points. In goal, Zeller stopped an average of nine shots per game last week and her goals against average was six. Zeller saved a total of 27 shots and allowed only 24 goals for a save percentage of .526.
Miller, a preseason All-American honorable mention, leads the team in scoring, assists and points with 41 goals, 24 assists for 65 points. Playing in all 60 minutes against New Hampshire, Miller netted six goals and added three assists. In the Denver game, Miller tallied six goals and three assists again, but this time playing in only 28 minutes. In 45 minutes of playing time against no. 20 Stanford, Miller scored six goals and assisted on five others.
In the BIG EAST, Miller sits in second in overall points with 65 and fifth in number of ground balls with 37. In league games only, Miller is third in points with 27 from 17 goals and three assists. Nationally, according to the April 15th release, Miller is 16th in average points per game with 4.06, and is 29th in average assists per game with 1.45.
Zeller has started all 14 games and has played all 846 minutes in net this season. She has an 11.7 goals against average and a save percentage of 49.5 percent. As the team's lone goalie, Zeller has collected 164 saves on the season. In the New Hampshire game, Zeller stopped 10 shots and allowed 14 goals. Saving nine shots in the Denver game, Zeller gave up only six goals. Allowing only one goal in the first half, Zeller set a personal best, allowing only four goals against no. 20 Stanford, as she stopped eight shots, preserving the Eagles largest margin of victory this season.
Sharing the Defensive Player of the Week honors with Zeller is senior midfielder Stacey Brown (Scotia, N.Y.) from Syracuse.
The Eagles will return to action on Sunday, April 29, in their final season game at Alumni Stadium. Game time is 12:00 noon.
