Hockey Awards Announced

Seniors Bobby Allen, Scott Clemmensen and Brian Gionta shared the Norman F. Dailey Award, which recognizes Boston College hockey's 2000-01 Most Valuable Player. The awards were presented at the team's 52nd annual Pike's Peak Hockey Club Banquet in Randolph, Mass.
Boston College won the NCAA title with a 3-2 overtime win over North Dakota on April 7. The victory gave the Eagles their first national hockey title since 1949.
Senior Mark McLennan captured the William J. Flynn Coaches Award, while another senior trio - Marty Hughes, Mike Lephart and Rob Scuderi - shared the John A. "Snooks" Kelley Memorial Award. This award, named for the Eagles' legendary coach, is given to the player(s) who best typify Boston College hockey.
Juniors Jeff Giuliano and Brooks Orpik were co-recipients of the James E. Tiernan Memorial Award as the team's Most Improved Player.
Two players - seniors Marty Hughes and Dan Sullivan - were recognized for their academic performances.
Boston College finished the 2000-01 season with a 33-8-1 record, setting the school record for victories in one season. The Eagles also won the Beanpot Tournament, the HOCKEY EAST regular-season title and the HOCKEY EAST Tournament crown
