CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Boston College men's tennis was defeated by the St. John's in the consolation round of the BIG EAST Championship, today, hosted by Miami, at the Neil Schiff Tennis Complex, by a score of 4-0.
In doubles play, BC's Justin Slattery and Hason Cowett were defeated by Erik Scharf and Jake Maxwell, 8-6. Eagle's Tim Brennan and Paul Colahan lost to St. John's Fabian Carch and Cameron Lore, 8-2, to take the double's point. Playing in the third doubles match were Matt Stutz and Brad Anderson for Boston College and Brian Scharf and Christian Carere for the Red Storm.
In singles action, St. John's Carchi defeated Anderson, 6-1 and 6-2. Also winning in two sets, the Red Storm's Scharf defeated Brennan by a 6-1, 7-5 count. In the winning match for St. John's, Scharf beat BC's Stattery, when Slatery retired at 1-0. Also playing singles matches for BC were Cowett against Maxwell, Colahan against Lore and Marc Lucero against Nikhil Teppara for St. John's, respectively
The men's tennis team finishes the season with a 14-11 record and a 3-3 BIG EAST mark. The loss is the second for the Eagles this season to the Red Storm. The first came on April 8 by a score of 4-3.
