Women's Track Competes At The Central Connecticut Invitational

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - The Boston College men and women's track and field teams competed at the Central Connecticut Invitational on Sunday, April 14, at Willow Brook Park, in New Britain, Conn.
Taking fourth place in the 400-meters was Mark Johnson, with a time of 50.86. Justin Burdon took second place in the 1500, running a 4:04.18. Following in fourth place was Matt Kootman (4:06.59), Kevin Lyons finished 19th (4:18.20) and John Dudley was 23rd (4:22.24). Christian Deluke took fifth place with a 15:48.26 in the 5,000-meter.
Winning the 400-meter intermediate hurdles, Jeff Normant ran a 55.39. In the 100-meter dash, Gabe Verdaguer took 18th place with an 11.42 and Gavin Shedrick finished 27th with an 11.67. Finishing in 31st in the 200-meter dash, Keith Normant ran a 23.83. Following in 36th was Gavin with a time of 23.98. In his second event of the day, Keith Normant took 10th place in the 110 high hurdles (15.85), followed by Brendan Maloney in 26th (19.12).
In field events, Tony Bierne finished sixth in the hammer, throwing 44.72 meters. Verdaguer took third in the long jump with a jump of 5.87 meters and Maloney took 13th with a jump of 4.77 meters. In the triple jump, Keith Normant finished 5th with a jump of 12.28. In the javelin, Ryan O'Hagen took 12th (47.58 meters), Maloney took 18th (42.24 meters) and Verdager took 19th (42.10 meters).
On the women's side, Katina McCrory took 13th place with a 26.84 and Julie Heyde took 24th with a 28.30. Christina Regan took eighth in the 100-meter high hurdles. Following in 12th was Alison Castaldi (16.52) and Heyde was 13th (16.63). In the 200-meter intermediate hurdles, Regan finished fifth with an 1:06.24.
Winning the discus, Megan Kearney threw 43.60 meters and set a new school record. Competing in the hammer, Kearney threw 28.90 meters. In the long jump McCrory jumped 4.67 meters, good for sixth place and Heyde took 21st with a jump of 3.93 meters. Castaldi took eighth in the triple jump with a jump of 10.10 meters. In the javelin, Lindsay Hudnut threw 31.60 meters and took eighth place. In the shot put, Kearney finished in seventh place (11.13 meters).
