CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College men's tennis picks up their second shutout over Boston University this season, the first coming Sunday, Oct. 1, in Boston 7-0, and the second Wednesday, April 11, in Chestnut Hill 7-0. This is also the eighth shutout of the season for the Eagles.
The Eagles won two out of three doubles matches to earn the doubles point on the strength of victories by the teams of senior Jason Cowett and freshman Justin Slattery, and junior Tim Brennan and freshman Paul Colahan. Also competing in doubles were sophomores Damon Vartabedian and Greg Comfort.
In singles the Eagles won all six matches to complete the sweep and maintain a perfect record against the Terriers by not dropping a point against them all season. Slattery, Cowett, Vartabedian, senior Chris Mercurio, and juniors Colin Kennedy and Marc Lucero were point winners for Boston College.
The Eagles finish the year with an overall record of 13-10, 3-2 in the BIG EAST and will next play in the BIG EAST Championship Tournament April 20-22 in Coral Gables, Fla.
