
Women's Ice Hockey Drops Final Game To Providence

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's hockey team dropped their final game of the season to Providence, 4-1, at Kelley Rink in Chestnut Hill, Mass. Collecting the only goal of the game for the Eagles was Jen Buckley.
Opening the scoring at 2:18 of the first period, senior captain Jen Buckley scored her 64th career goal, giving the Eagles an one to nothing lead. Assisting on the short-handed goal was Kelly McManus. With less than three minutes remaining in the first stanza Providence came back to tie the game at one when Jackie Tasmsin scored at 17:32. Collecting the Friar assist were Jessica Tabb and Darlene Stepherson. Heading into the locker room at the end of the first period, Providence out-shot the Eagles 12-6.
In the second period, Boston College goalkeeper Sharon Van Tuyl saved all Providence's 11 shots on goal. While PC's Amy Quinlan stopped all five Eagle attempts. Both teams were unable to tally any goals in the second period, sending both into the locker room still tied at one.
At 7:44 of the third period, PC's Stepenson scored what would prove to be the winning goal from a Tabb pass. The Friars would go onto score two more unanswered goals to make the final score 4-1. Kim Mathias scored at 10:59 and Valerie Bono scored at 19:21.
In goal for the Eagles, Van Tuyl stopped 31 in 58:12 minutes in goal. For the Friars, Quinlan saved 12.
Preceding today's game, three Boston College seniors were honored as today marked their last game of their collegiate careers at Boston College. The women's ice hockey team concluded their season today with a record of 6-26-0 and 1-23-0 in the ECAC.
