Tonight's Game:
Boston College will face UMass Lowell tonight in the semifinals of the HOCKEY EAST Tournament. The Eagles swept the regular-season series against the River Hawks, 3-0. On Nov. 4, BC defeated UMass Lowell at Tsongas Arena, 6-1, behind two goals each from Krys Kolanos and Chuck Kobasew. The victory was Jerry York's 600th as a head coach. On Jan. 12, the Eagles again defeated the River Hawks on the road, 2-1. The last meeting of the season was on Feb. 2, with BC taking the 4-3 decision at Conte Forum.
Regular-Season Champions:
Boston College, which finished the regular season in first place in the HOCKEY EAST standings with a 17-5-2 record, captured the 2000-01 regular-season title with its 6-3 victory over Northeastern on Mar. 1, at Kelley Rink. The title is the Eagles' first regular season crown since the 1990-91 season and the team's seventh overall.
The Eagles and the HOCKEY EAST Championship:
Boston College returns to the HOCKEY EAST Tournament Semifinals for the fifth-straight season. Over that span, the Eagles have an 11-2-1 record in the tournament, including back-to-back titles. The Eagles have been to the title game in each of the last three seasons, winning in 1998 and 1999.

Boston College is the second-ranked team in the country according to both major polls ... the team's leading scorer, Brian Gionta, is one of the nation's elite players and is a two-time Hobey Baker finalist. He won the HOCKEY EAST scoring crown this season with 35 points (24-10--35) in 24 games ... the Eagles have six players who have scored 30+ points this season, two of which are freshmen ... Scott Clemmensen has seen action in all but three games in net this season. He among the HOCKEY EAST goalkeeping leaders with his .910 save percentage and 2.18 goals against average ... BC is outscoring its opponents by 1.74 goals per game. In league games, the difference was 1.92 goals per game ... BC is a balanced team in terms of age with eight seniors, three juniors, five sophomores and eight freshmen.
Our Offense:
The Boston College offense is one of the most explosive in the nation. The Eagles average 4.08 goals per game which leads HOCKEY EAST and is fourth in the nation ... BC is 22-0 when it
scores four or more goals ... Brian Gionta leads the nation with 31 goals scored and is Boston College's career leader in goals scored with 121. Three players - Gionta (31), Krys Kolanos (23) and Chuck Kobasew (20) - have scored 20 or more goals this season ... Ben Eaves leads the team in assists with 24 ... 13 players have scored in double-figures this season, including four defensemen ... Gionta scored five goals in one game earlier this season ... eight different Eagles have had multiple-goal games this season and 14 players have had multiple-point games.
Our Defense:
The Boston College defense starts from the net out where Scott Clemmensen has started all but five games this season. He has 25 wins and a 2.18 goals against average. Clemmensen is a four-year starter in goal and is the career leader in wins (94) and shutouts (13) at BC ... seniors Bobby Allen and Rob Scuderi anchor the defense corps, which boasts three seniors, one junior, one sophomore and three freshmen ... BC allows 2.34 goals per game, second-best in HOCKEY EAST and seventh-best in the nation ... the Eagles have shutout three opponents this season and have held opponents to two goals or fewer 25 times ... the Eagles have allowed just two goals in the last three games.
Familiar with the FleetCenter:
The Boston College senior class has played 16 games at the FleetCenter since the start of the 1997-98 season. The squad has a 11-5 mark in those game. Included are two HOCKEY EAST Tournament crowns and a trip to the NCAA Frozen Four (1998).
