CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Freshman forward Tony Voce has earned his third HOCKEY EAST Rookie of the Week honor of the season after netting both of the Eagles' game-winning goals this past weekend. Voce scored the game's only goal on Friday, Mar. 9, in the first game of the best-of-three series in the HOCKEY EAST tournament quarterfinals against Merrimack. On Saturday, he scored the Eagles' second goal that was the decisive tally as BC moved into the semifinal with the two-game sweep of the Warriors.
Voce, a native of Philadelphia, Pa., also received the league's honor in consecutive weeks in November (Nov. 12 and Nov. 19). On the season, he has scored 10 goals and added 11 assists for 21 points in 38 games. He is the third leading scorer in the freshman class as the eight freshmen have provided the team with just under one-third of its offense this season.
Boston College is 28-8-2 on the season and will next face UMass-Lowell (19-15-3) in the HOCKEY EAST tournament semifinals at the FleetCenter on Mar. 16, at 5 p.m. The game will be aired live on FoxSports Net New England. BC won the league's regular-season championship with it 17-5-2 overall mark in 24 HOCKEY EAST contests.
