In the Joyce Center: Boston College has a 3-5 all-time record in the Joyce Center, including a 1-3 mark in BIG EAST action.
FAST START: Boston College's 19-3 record marks the second-best start in program history. The 1966-67 team, led by head coach Bob Cousy and captain Willie Wolters, is the only team in school history to get off to a better start. That team began with a 23-2 record, before dropping its last game (to North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament).
BIG EAST BLAST: Boston College's 10-2 BIG EAST record marks the program's best-ever start in league play ... BC had its seven-game conference win streak snapped at Connecticut on Feb. 13, 2001. That seven-game streak was the Eagles' longest streak since the conference formed in 1979-80.
IF IT'S NOT BROKE: Boston College has had the same starting lineup in each of its 22 games this season. Seniors Kenny Harley and Xavier Singletary, junior Kenny Walls, and sophomores Troy Bell and Uka Agbai have started every game.
NAISMITH AWARD CANDIDATES: Both Troys in tonight's game -- BC's Troy Bell and Notre Dame's Troy Murphy -- are among the 15 finalists for the Naismith College Basketball Player of the Year Award.
LOTS OF POINTS: Boston College has registered 80 or more points in 12 games this season, including seven BIG EAST contests. The last BC team to score 80 or more points in as many BIG EAST games was the 1993-94 team, which tallied at least 80 points seven times ... The 1982-83 Eagles scored 80 or more points in nine (of 16) conference contests.
DOUBLE DUTY: Four Boston College players tallied double-digit point totals in the team's most recent game -- a home win over Providence. BC has had at least four players record double-figure point totals in each of 13 games this season. BC has an 12-1 record in those games (9-0 when four players score in double figures, 3-1 when five players score in double figures).
ON OFFENSE: The Eagles are averaging 80.9 points per game on 46.8 percent shooting from the field this season. BC has scored more than 70 points in 21 of its 22 games. The 1965-66 Eagles were the last team to score 70 or more points in as many games. That team did so in all 26 of its games. BC has topped the 80-point mark in 12 games, including five of the last seven games.
ON DEFENSE: While Boston College has received well-deserved kudos for its offensive attack, the team's defensive effort has gone largely unrecognized. The Eagles have limited their opponents to 44.4 percent shooting from the field, while making 10.1 steals per game. BC has forced its opponents into an average of 19.6 turnovers per game.
THE HEAD COACH: Al Skinner is in his fourth season as the head coach at Boston College and his 13th season as a collegiate head coach. He has a career record of 189-185. Skinner is a 1974 graduate of the University of Massachusetts, where he enjoyed a stellar collegiate basketball career (1971-74).
vs. Notre Dame: Al Skinner has a 1-3 career record against the Irish.
THE COACHING STAFF: Al Skinner is assisted by associate head coach Tim O'Shea, assistant coach Bill Coen, assistant coach Ed Cooley and administrative assistant Pat Duquette. The seven-game turnaround ties the fifth-best turnaround in conference history. Miami (1993-94 to 1994-95) holds the record with a nine-game rebound. Three teams -- Connecticut (1996-97 to 1997-98), Boston College (1994-95 to 1995-96) and Connecticut (1988-89 to 1989-90) -- registered eight-game turnarounds. FOCUS ON ... TROY BELL

The sophomore equaled his career high with 31 points in the season opener against St. Peter's. He scored 29 points against Vanderbilt, 28 points at Villanova, and 27 points against both Connecticut and Miami (home).
EVEN MORE: Troy Bell recorded a string of 100:27 without a turnover. The sophomore went five consecutive halves without a turnover. That streak was snapped against Villanova on Feb. 4 ... Bell has been a stalwart for the Eagles again this season. The team leader in minutes played (34.3 per game), Bell has logged the full 40 minutes once, 39 minutes four times (one of which registers as a 40-), and 38 minutes three times.
AMONG LEAGUE LEADERS: Troy Bell ranks among BIG EAST leaders in eight categories (league games only): scoring (third, 21.2), field-goal percentage (ninth, .444), assists (ninth, 4.58), free-throw percentage (fifth, .874), steals (second, 3.00), three-point field-goal percentage (seventh, .380), three-point field goals made (11th, 2.25) and assist-turnover ratio (eighth, 1.72).

Bell finished the 1999-2000 season ranked second among NCAA Division I leaders in free-throw percentage (.894).
PUTTING UP POINTS: Troy Bell has scored in double figures in 46 of his 49 collegiate games, including each of the last 27 games. DRAWING ATTENTION: It didn't take too many collegiate games before Troy Bell's talents -- especially his three-point shooting abilities -- were recognized. Long before he captured BIG EAST Rookie of the Year honors last March, Bell had his opponents keeping a special eye -- and sometimes more than that -- on him. Witness this: Last season, Bell was fouled on a three-point attempt 18 times in 16 games, including 12 of 14 BIG EAST games (including twice in each of two games -- at Connecticut and at West Virginia). He made all three free throws 13 times. He made 2-of-3 free throws four times. And what about the other time when he was fouled on a three-point attempt? Well, Bell still hit the trey -- and then made the one free throw that followed (vs. Hartford).
