CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Senior defenseman Marty Hughes' goal with 30 seconds remaining in regulation capped a furious Boston College comeback as the host Eagles rallied from a two-goal, third-period deficit to gain a 3-2 HOCKEY EAST victory over New Hampshire before a sellout crowd of 7,770 at Kelley Rink.
Trailing 2-0 after two periods, second-ranked Boston College (23-7-1, 14-4-1 HOCKEY EAST) got on the scoreboard on junior Krys Kolanos' goal at 9:53 of the final period. Senior Mike Lephart evened the score at 17:12, setting the stage for Hughes' decisive tally.
New Hampshire sophomore Josh Prudden opened the scoring at 18:38 of the first period, and the visiting Wildcats doubled their advantage on senior Eric Lind's goal at 3:17 of the second period.
New Hampshire senior goaltender Ty Conklin made 45 saves. BC senior Scott Clemmensen made 17 stops.
Boston College and eighth-ranked New Hampshire (18-9-6, 9-7-5 HOCKEY EAST) meet again on Sunday, February 18 in the Whittemore Center in Durham, N.H. Game time is 7 p.m.
