Miller And Ryan Selected to Preseason All-BIG EAST Team

PROVIDENCE, R.I.-Senior attacker Emily Ryan and junior attacker Lauren Miller have been selected to the 2001 augural women's lacrosse Preseason All-BIG EAST Team, announced today, by the BIG EAST Conference in Providence, R.I.
Ryan, a 2000 regional all-American selection, was tied for the lead in goals scored, with 34, last season. Collecting 16 assists, the Franklin, Mass. native was second in points with 50. Over her career at Boston College, Ryan has tallied 98 goals and 28 assists for 126 points, starting all 46 games of her career. A captain last season, Ryan will carry on the duty this season.
The 2000 NCAA Division I leader in assists per game and preseason all-American honorable mention, Miller averaged 2.47 assists last season. The Eagles leader in assists last season, Miller assisted on 41 goals and scored 31, for third on the team and was selected as a regional all-American. Leader in points for the 2000 season, this Timonium, Md. native tallied 72 points. A starter in her second season at Boston College, Miller played in 30 of 31 games scoring 54 goals, assisting on 63 others for 117 points.
Also announced today was the 2001 Preseason BIG EAST Coaches Poll. Head coach Sharri Krasnoo's Eagles were picked to finish in seventh place in the BIG EAST, collecting seven points. Chosen to win the conference in their inaugural season, Georgetown collected 36 points and was an unanimous selection taking six first place votes.
Selected as BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year was Sheehan Stanwick of Georgetown.
The Eagles will begin their season Sat., Feb. 17 at the South of the Border Tournament.
