Hockey Falls In First Of Two At Maine

ORONO, Maine - Boston College scored two power-play goals, but they were not enough as Maine defeated the Eagles, 5-2, in the first of a two-game set on Friday night.
After Colin Shields put the Black Bears on the board 1:20 into the game, Ales Dolinar knotted the score with his extra-skater strike at 7:09. He picked up a rebound of a Jeff Giuliano shot behind the net and put in a wrap-around shot on the left post. Brett Peterson also assisted on the goal.
Sheilds scored his second goal of the night at 13:20 of the first period to put the Black Bears ahead for good.
After a scoreless second period, Michael Schutte scored for Maine, giving the team a 3-1 lead.
Tony Voce scored the Eagles' second goal on a delayed penalty call. Ben Eaves and Dave Spina cycled the puck on the left side and found Voce for the goal at 5:41 of the third period and a 3-2 score.
Niko Dimitrakos (8:01 of the third) and Ben Murphy (11:48 of the third) scored later for Maine in the win.
Matti Kaltiainen made 29 saves in the loss, while Mike Morrison made 21 saves for Maine. The game marked only the third time this season the Eagles were outshot in a contest, as Maine put 34 shots on net to BC's 23.
Boston College fell to 8-6-1 overall (4-4-0 HEA), while Maine improved to 8-5-2 overall (4-2-0 HEA).,The two teams will face off again on Saturday night at 7 p.m. at Alfond Arena.
