Green Shares BIG EAST Player of the Year Honor

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Boston College junior running back William Green (Atlantic City, NJ) has been named one of two 2001 BIG EAST Conference Offensive Players of the Year. He shared the award with quarterback Ken Dorsey of Miami. Green was also named first team all-BIG EAST Conference while eight of his teammates were named second team all-BIG EAST Conference.
The eight Eagles named second team were: quarterback Brian St. Pierre (unaminous), offensive tackle Marc Colombo, center Dan Koppen, offensive guard Marc Parenteau, defensive lineman Antonio Garay, defensive lineman Sean Guthrie, linebacker Scott Bradley and punter Kevin McMyler.
Miami's Edward Reed and Dwight Freeney of Syracuse share Defensive Player of the Year accolades. Miami's Phillip Buchanon was chosen as Special Teams Player of the Year, while rookie head coach Larry Coker was named BIG EAST Coach of the Year. Virginia Tech's Kevin Jones was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Year.
Green led the nation in rushing for most of the season and currently ranks second with 155.9 yards per contest. The juniorrunning back rushed for at least 100 yards in all but one game, recording five of the top seven single-game performances in the league this year. He also led the BIG EAST with 181.9 all-purpose yards, while averaging 10.2 points.
