Gridiron Club of Greater Boston Honors Two From BC

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Gridiron Club of Greater Boston will hold its annual Bob Whelan College Football Awards Night on Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at The Diplomat Restaurant on Route 1 in Saugus.
A pair of Boston College players will be honored at the event as senior linebacker Scott Bradley will receive the George H. "Bulger" Lowe Award for defense while senior offensive tackle John Richardson will be given the Nils. V "Swede" Nelson Award. The Lowe Award is given to the outstanding offensive and defensive football player in New England each year while the Nelson Award is given to the most outstanding scholar-athlete.
In addition, BC graduate John Salmon will be presented The Joseph P. McKenney Award, which recognizes an outstanding football official each year.
Former New England Patriot and Hall of Fame member John Hannah will be the guest speaker.
