WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Boston College women's volleyball team lost, 3-0 (30-23, 32-30, 32-30), against Georgetown University at McDonough Gym. With the loss the Eagles drop to 17-10 overall and 4-6 in the BIG EAST. Georgetown improves to 16-7 overall and 9-2 in the BIG EAST. Junior outside hitter Rachel Bach led BC with 13 kills and six total blocks.
Boston College came into the match needing a victory to reach .500 in conference play, but were facing a strong Georgetown team who had lost only once in conference at home this season.
Georgetown cruised to a comfortable game one victory, as the Eagles struggled to find their offense. Boston College hurt themselves with costly errors and poor defense, falling in game one 30-23.
Games two and three, however, would prove to be more difficult for the home team, as BC started to find its hitting. The Eagles showed their mental toughness matching the Hoyas point for point, but it was the experience of Georgetown that would win the day. BC dropped the final two games by a combined four points.
In addition to Bach's team-high 13 kills, freshman outside hitter Katie Andersen added eight kills and a match-high 14 digs and Lauren Schwer contributed 34 assists and four kills.
For Georgetown, Lauren Warner led the way with a match-high 14 kills and nine digs and Yulia Vtyurina added 13 kills and five digs.
Boston College returns to action on Friday, November 9 against Providence College at Power Gym. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
