CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior Troy Bell scored 22 points and sophomore Ryan Sidney netted a career-high 21 points as Boston College withstood a furious New Hampshire rally in the game's final seven minutes to gain an 80-77 win before a crowd of 5,176 in Conte Forum.
The victory was the Eagles' 20th consecutive home triumph.
Boston College took a 78-55 lead on freshman Jermaine Watson's field goal with 7:42 to play. New Hampshire, however, answered with 22 straight points to trim its deficit to just one point -- 78-77 -- with 27 seconds to play.
Boston College attempted to run out the clock, but UNH senior Austin Ganly fouled Bell with eight seconds to play. Bell sank both free throws to give BC a three-point cushion. BC's Sidney registered a steal in the final seconds to secure the win.
Ganley recorded a game-high 28 points, including eight points in the Wildcats' 22-0 second-half run. Ganley sank five three-pointers, was a perfect 7-for-7 from the foul line and tied for team-high rebounding honors with eight.
BC junior Kenny Walls added 15 points, while sophomore Uka Agbai tallied 13 points and nine rebounds. Sidney led BC with 11 rebounds.
For UNH, Kyle Peterson and Marcus Bullock each netted 13 points, while Shawn Collette scored 12 points.
