
Hockey Trips Up Providence, 4-1

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Three Eagle players each tallied one goal and one assist as Boston College defeated Providence, 4-1, in hockey action before 5,367 fans at Kelley Rink. Freshman Ryan Murphy, sophomore Ben Eaves and senior Ales Dolinar each recorded two points for Boston College. The two teams got on the board early and combined for three goals in less than two minutes in the first period. The win was the third in as many games for Boston College.
Eaves put the Eagles on the board 4:06 into the first period. Sophomore Tony Voce sent a cross-ice pass from BC's blue line to Providence's blue line to a waiting A.J. Walker, who skated in and dumped the puck off to Eaves in front of the net for the goal.
Boston College (5-4-1, 2-2-0 HEA) extended the lead to 2-0 just more than one minute later at 5:23 when Dolinar redirected an Andrew Alberts slap shot from the right point. Murphy also received an assist on the goal.
Providence (4-6-0, 3-4-0 HEA) climbed within one goal at 6:02 as Regan Kelly knocked in a pass from Drew Omicioli and Peter Fregoe, but Murphy gave BC a two-goal lead again from Dolinar and Ned Havern at 9:00.
J.D. Forrest netted a power-play goal at 5:23 of the second period to conclude the scoring. Eaves and freshman Dave Spina assisted on the goal. Forrest received a pass from Eaves and skated in from the point for the score.
Freshman Matti Kaltiainen stopped 19 shots in the win for Boston College, while Nolan Schaefer made 31 saves for Providence. Boston College outshot the Friars 35-20 on the night, including a 16-4 margin in the third period.
Boston College will next host Boston University on Saturday, November 17 in a 7 p.m. at Kelley Rink, while Providence will host New Hampshire on Saturday.
