Women's Volleyball Falls to #22 Notre Dame, 3-0

CHESTNUT HILL, MA- The Boston College women's volleyball team lost 3-0 (30-23, 30-17, 31-29) to #22 Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon at Power Gym. With the loss BC drops to 11-5 and 1-2 in the BIG EAST. Notre Dame improves to 9-3 (4-0 in BIG EAST). Freshman outside hitter Katie Andersen led the Eagles with nine kills and 10 digs.
Boston College came into the match hoping to pull of the upset, but Notre Dame proved to be too deep and too powerful on this day. Led by Malinda Goralski and Kristy Kreher the Irish pulled out game one 30-23. Goralski finished the match with a team-high nine kills and Kreher contributed seven kills and five digs.
Notre Dame took control of the match in game two thanks to untimely BC errors. The Eagles posted a -.073 hitting percentage for the game and lost 30-17.
Game three would offered the most entertaining play of the match, with the Eagles trying to fight back into the match. Junior outside hitter Lauren Schwer led the BC stand with a match-high 16 digs. Freshman setter Jessica Brizzolara also pushed the Eagles attack, registering 28 assists and 6 digs. In the end, however, the Irish would prove to be too tough. Notre Dame took game three 31-29.
Boston College returns to action on Sunday, October 7 against the Syracuse Orangewomen at Power Gym. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
