Women's Swimming and Diving Defeat Marist 152-85

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's swimming and diving team continued its hot start to the 2001-02 season by defeating Marist College 152-85 on Sunday afternoon at the Flynn Recreation Complex. The Eagles moved their overall record to 3-0 on the season.
Sophomore Katelyn Cox took home multiple victories on Sunday by winning the one- and three-meter diving events. Cox finished the one-meter diving competition with a score of 242.20 and the three-meter event with a score of 245.55.
The Eagles were victorious in both relay events on Sunday. Freshman Kathleen McCann, sophomore Michelle Lane, junior Nina Suryoutomo and senior Lauren Schwartz took home top honor in the 400-yard medley relay, finishing with a time of 4:02.37. Schwartz finished in first place in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:09.59.
Lane joined freshman Jennifer Moquin, sophomore Caitlin Healey and senior Sarah Dreyer were victorious in the 200-yard freestyle relay, finishing with a time of 1:45.63.
Healey turned in a time of 10:46.34, which was good enough for first place in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Other first-place finishers were junior Caitlin Klick, who won the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.03), senior Kostopoulos, who took first place in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:33.21). Junior Sarah Duffy garnered top honors in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 5:14.71.
The women's swimming and diving team is back in action at 6:30 p.m. Friday, November 2, when it takes on the University of California at San Diego in San Diego, Calif.
