FAIRFIELD, Conn.- The Boston College women's volleyball team defeated Sacred Heart University, 3-0, on Wednesday night in Fairfield, Conn. The victory moved the Eagles to 15-7 on the season while Sacred Heart dropped to 6-16. Junior outside hitter Rachel Bach led BC with nine kills and a .421 hitting percentage.
With a tough weekend of conference opponents coming up, the Eagles came into the match looking to build confidence. BC supporters would be happy with the result. The Eagles came out flying in game one, relentlessly attacking every ball, marching to a 30-19 win. Freshman setter Jessica Brizzolara was impressive leading the BC attack, registering 33 assists and four digs.
Sacred Heart made things a little bit more difficult in game two, hanging with the Eagles for a good portion of the game. In the end, however, it was the BC depth and hitting that would move the Eagles to a 30-22 game win. Game three saw the away side finally subdue their opponents.
Sophomore Laura Powers and Senior Brooke Shull aided in the win, hitting .455 and .533 respectively. Freshman Dara Blandino also pitched in with five kills.
