
Hockey Drops Home Opener, 7-2

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - UMass-Lowell's Jerramie Domish scored two goals and added one assist as the River Hawks spoiled Boston College's home opener with a 7-2 victory before 6,386 fans at Kelley Rink. Ed McGrane added one goal - including a shorthanded tally - and two assists for the River Hawks.
UMass-Lowell (2-0-0) jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the first period on goals by Laurent Meunier, Domish and Darryl Green. BC's lone score in the period came on a power-play strike from freshman Dave Spina. Sophomores Tony Voce and J.D. Forrest assisted on the goal.
Boston College (1-2-1) brought the game back within one goal when Voce notched a 4x4 goal 2:33 into the second stanza. Forrest recorded his second assist on the night, while freshman Andrew Alberts was also credited with an assist.
The River Hawks closed the game scoring four straight goals, three of which came in special teams situations. McGrane and Steve Slonina each recorded shorthanded tallies 20 seconds apart and Josh Allison added a power-play goal less than three minutes after the shorthanded goals. Domish closed the scoring with a strike 24 seconds into the third period.
UML's Jimi St. John stopped 19 shots, while BC's Tim Kelleher recorded 29 saves in the loss.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday, October 20 when they face Northeastern at Matthews Arena in a 7 p.m. game. UMass-Lowell host Connecticut on Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.
