Sailing Wins Sharpe Team Race

BOSTON - The Boston College Sailing team earned a 6th place finish at the Yale Women's Intersectional. Racing against top squads from across the Eastern seaboard, and at least one from California, the Eagles had a strong showing with a fourth place finish in the A division and junior Carrie Howe who sailed with freshman Jen Doyle and senior Sarah Helming. In the B division, senior Cryssa Byers and junior Kate Wisotzkey had a 12th place finish in fair wind conditions on Saturday and slightly lighter winds on Sunday.
The Eagles finished 10th at the Navy Fall Intersectional in Annapolis, Maryland. Juniors Mark Teborek and Justin Dieckerhoff, and freshman Julie Wilson raced in the A division and senior Dave Jamieson, junior Bradley Yetman, and sophomores Serene Saliba and Adriane Hinman sailed in the B division. The wind was Southeasterly about 8 knots on Saturday and 10-20 knots on Sunday from the same direction.
Boston College also won the Sharpe Team Race held at Brown University. The Eagles beat out Connecticut College in a tiebreaker both having 6-1 records, but the Eagles won the head to head matchup. Junior Neil McLaughlin, sophomores Garin Strobl and Lora du Moulin, and freshman Ben Gent, Frank Ustach, and Joy MacDougall combined to win the event for the Eagles. The event was run in cold and misty conditions with North to Northeast winds at 5-8 knots.
